In Côte d'Ivoire, support for older and dependent adults relies largely on home care and small residential settings. These settings — home care and support, private retirement homes — count on workers able to deliver first aid and CPR.

Home care and support, private retirement homes and reception facilities for older adults; the APS-ASD certificate (Prevention & Rescue Actor – Home Care & Support) targets home-care workers specifically, in the absence of a single national residential-care standard.

急救要求

Home care and support services expect their workers to master emergency response — CPR and first-aid gestures — so they can act quickly for a vulnerable person. A dedicated scheme, the APS-ASD, together with the PSC1 open to all, addresses this need; the requirement is carried by the employer.

A recognized, up-to-date first-aid certificate is the usual way to meet this expectation; it is in addition to the care worker's or auxiliary's occupational training and must be renewed periodically.
