The first-aid requirement

Home care and support services expect their workers to master emergency response — CPR and first-aid gestures — so they can act quickly for a vulnerable person. A dedicated scheme, the APS-ASD, together with the PSC1 open to all, addresses this need; the requirement is carried by the employer.

A recognized, up-to-date first-aid certificate is the usual way to meet this expectation; it is in addition to the care worker's or auxiliary's occupational training and must be renewed periodically.
