In health care, protecting the public begins with the ability to respond to an emergency. Whether you are a nurse under the Ordre National des Infirmiers et Infirmières de Côte d'Ivoire or a support worker caring for clients at home, current CPR and first-aid skills are part of what the role expects. Here is what the Ivorian framework provides, and how recognized, up-to-date, documented training meets it.

In Côte d'Ivoire, the nursing profession is now overseen by the Ordre National des Infirmiers et Infirmières de Côte d'Ivoire (ONIICI), established by Law No. 2022-794 of 13 October 2022. The order governs registration and professional conduct, with practice requiring nurses to keep their clinical skills current.

As a matter of professional duty, a nurse remains bound to give aid and to be able to initiate emergency manoeuvres. Because the order is newly created, no national CPD-point scheme tied to licence retention is yet documented; keeping resuscitation skills current is therefore a matter of professional responsibility and workplace expectation.

There is not yet a national mandatory continuing-education hours standard tied to licence renewal for these professions in Côte d'Ivoire; the order, created in 2022, governs registration and professional conduct. Keeping skills current remains expected and generally employer-driven.

For support staff — care workers, nursing auxiliaries and home carers — care services expect, alongside auxiliary health training (notably through the INFAS), a recognized first-aid certificate. The PSC1, open to all, and above all the APS-ASD certificate (Acteur Prévention Secours – Aide et Soin à Domicile), designed specifically for home-care workers, are stand-alone credentials that meet this expectation and must be kept current.
